Tony, founder and patriarch of Construction Underwriters, has over 50 years of experience in the surety industry. He provides executive leadership and works directly with clients, some he’s worked with for three generations of their own family businesses. In his free time, he enjoys traveling with his wife Hazel, gardening, reading, and time with family – especially his “granddogs”.

Ben Mathews, CPA
President
Ben joined Construction Underwriters almost 10 years ago after graduating with an Accounting degree from Stevenson University and is a Certified Public Accountant. Since then, he has taken over as President, managing most of the daily company operations and financial affairs as well as working closely with clients and underwriters alike. He takes pride in our level of service and in continuing a longstanding business reputation and family legacy. When not in the office, Ben spends his time with his wife Julia, in the garden, traveling to jam band concerts, and exploring local breweries.
Catie Mathews
Vice President, Administration
Catie has been in the insurance industry in various capacities since 1984, and with Construction Underwriters since its inception. While she has worked in many different areas of insurance, surety is by far her favorite. She oversees agency administration and is the cog in our machine that keeps it all running smoothly! Outside of work, Catie enjoys time with her husband Brett and three children, long walks with the dog, and perfecting her banana bread and snickerdoodle recipes.
Terri Mathews
Terri has over 10 years of experience in both insurance and construction. She splits her days managing client accounts, assisting with administration, and on marketing and outreach. She really enjoys working closely with clients and finds a lot of satisfaction in helping contractors grow strategically. In her free time, Terri is usually found working on DIY projects around the house, attempting sourdough baking, or planning some trip or another.
